About
RADAR is the tablet application for Grameenphone's Sales Executives(SE) to manage day to day product inventory, collection, sell, stock review and return etc. The application shows which retailer has run out of stock or who would be interested to buy suggested amount based on market demand, sales analytics etc. By the end of the day, the SE doesn't have to manually count and organise the sales related activities that ensures increased efficiency of the overall distribution system and the people involved.
Problem statement
Radar v2.0 had numerous usability related issues that was affecting it's adoption rate amongst the sales executive(SE) who use it on regular basis. With help from the Grameenphone product distribution team, we facilitated full fledge usability testing sessions with 20 SEs as participants and let them perform top 10 operational tasks using RADAR v2.0.
The tasks were as below:
1. Login– Input SE username and password
2. Dashboard– Use it for realtime overall update
3. My Stock– Use it for owning stock update
4. Sales– Use it to get suggestion of who to sell
5. SAF Receive– Use it to collect SAF document
6. SE Report– Use it to check daily sales
7. RTR OH Stock Adjustment– Use it to return on hand stock
8. Attendance– Use it to keep record of retailer store attendance
9. NewsFeed– Use it to learn new offers, campaigns
10. Propose Retail– Use it to add a new retail outlet
RADAR v2.0 Re-Design
As inspected Radar v2.0, we suggested a re-design due to substandard information architecture and user experience design.
Business objectives:
The business objectives behind the re-design were–
– To increase the adoption rate of Radar across sales channel
– To grow operational efficiency
– To simplify user journeys through digitisation
– To empower the sales force to be the best in distribution
And the expected outcomes were–
– Journey wise pain points and quick fixes on current Radar app
– Insights to drive simplification and digitisation needs for sales channel
– Requirement elicitation and prototyping to guide the revamped design
– Information architecture and end to end user journeys for new version of design
RADAR v3.0 Design approach
In the new re-design, we wanted to change the existing report oriented design to more user-centered task oriented design. The users would initiate a task and will be guided till the end. The information will be presented to the users along the way
as required. In addition to that, the users would be able to check the various performance metrics and react to various
situation to improve it. The new design would be able to suggest certain things to the users, for example– next route to sell products, how much amount to sell etc.

New Sale– The most frequent task for a sales executive, placed at the top-left corner, can be easily accessible by SE once it becomes automatic.
My Stock– The SE needs to check the stock once in a while depending on the sale.
Sales Summary–SE needs to check the sales summary at the end of the day.
Performance–The performance is important to check to keep up the target vs. achievement score.
